We are keeping the holidays simple this year, including the cost and number of gifts. In choosing gifts, my goal is to value quality over quantity and focus on selecting thoughtful, sustainable, and ethically-sourced gifts. Not only are these products better for the world, I have also found sustainable and ethical gifts to have an overall much higher quality. Here are sustainable and ethical gifts I’m loving this year. LARQ’s sustainable and stylish water bottle collection make a great gift for most people on your list and include a variety of price points and types. The most popular model is the self-cleaning LARQ PureVis series, but all models include double-walled vacuum insulation, food-grade electropolished stainless steel, and. Even better, a portion of every purchase is donated to environmental nonprofits.
2. Bixby Chocolates
Bixby Chocolate is a woman-owned brand selling organic, non GMO candy in Rockland, Maine (they ship nationwide). Their products use ethically sourced ingredients and include many vegan, Kosher, and gluten free options. The bon bons and drinking chocolate are my favorites, but you can’t go wrong with any of their creations.
3. Farmhouse Pottery Milk Bottle Match Striker
Farmhouse Pottery’s goods are handmade from start to finish in Woodstock, Vermont, avoiding mass-production and modern machinery. The studio creates a beautiful selection of mugs, bowls, spoon rests, dishes, and other timeless goods that make terrific gifts. 4. Artifact Uprising Photo Book
For a meaningful and sustainable gift option, consider ordering a personalized photo book, wall calendar, ornament, or frame from Artifact Uprising. Using recycled and reclaimed materials, this Colorado-based company creates truly unique, high-quality gifts that will be treasured for years to come.
5. Floraco Magnolia Mint Candle
Everyone loves a terrific smelling candle and Floraco’s Magnolia Mint candle is my favorite. Floraco’s candles are handcrafted in small batches using high-quality clean ingredients that toxin, phthalate, toxin, mutagen, carcinogen, and cruelty free. This Connecticut-based woman-owned company makes a wide range of other gift-worthy products made with clean ingredients as well, including lotions, hand soaps, and diffusers.
6. PACT Sweatshirt
PACT is one of my favorite sustainable, organic cotton clothing companies and they have some great gift options. A PACT sweatshirt is my favorite gift for everyone on my list – soft organic cotton, made in a fair trade factory, and come in a variety of colors and styles for men and women.
7. Los Poblanos Gift Box
I’ve wanted to visit the Los Poblanos lavender farm in New Mexico for years. I’m a huge fan of their lotions and other bath products. Los Poblanos products are created with all-natural, organic ingredients, are “tested on farmers, not animals”, and are packaged in eco-friendly materials. They have a variety of gift boxes, including some great foodie options, but the Apothecary Collection is my favorite and contains five of their most popular products.
8. Broll & Branch Ribbed Knit Throw Blanket
Broll and Branch products are made with 100% organic cotton from toxin-, GMO-, and pesticide-free family farms and factories. The Ribbed Knit Throw Blanket is cozy, breathable, and comes in four neutral colors. It’s one of my favorite luxury gifts for anyone. It’s a bit of a splurge, but they have frequent sales.
9. Papier Wonder Hardcover Notebook
The Papier Wonder Hardcover Notebook is an elegant gift for any writer or list-maker. You can customize the color, text, design, and add the recipient’s name to the cover. Papier uses ethically-sourced paper from sustainably managed forests and the cover is made of upcycled leather scraps that would normally go to waste. It also arrives beautifully wrapped in attractive plastic-free packaging or a gift box.
10. Tentree Beanie
Tentree is a Canadian B Corp, slow fashion brand that prioritizes climate neutrality, ethically sourced materials, and reforestation (they plant ten trees for every order). They make a few different styles of beanies for women, men, and children that make terrific gifts.
